Invitation
In the past decade there has been an emerging interest in spirituality. Within medicine this interest is now leading to new research assessing the place of spirituality in treatment and in patient outcomes.
In the light of these new developments, the British Union of Spiritist Societies (BUSS) and the International Spiritist Medical Association (AME International) are hosting the Seminar and are pleased to invite you to attend. The Seminar will provide a forum for the professional exchange of knowledge and skills, exploring the spiritual dimension in medical care today, and for the future.
The inspiration for the Seminar comes from the Spiritist approach to medicine, widely practiced in
At present there are approximately eighty Spiritist hospitals in the main Brazilian cities, most of them linked to the Brazilian National Health Service (SUS). The Spiritist movement is also responsible for the majority of psychiatric care that falls outside the State. The integrated Spiritist model of treatment brings together conventional biomedicine with complementary treatments such as spiritual healing, homeopathy, occupational therapy, spirit release, and regular family-doctor-patient evaluation meetings. This holistic paradigm of treatment based on a combined biological, psychological, social and spiritual view of the patient, has achieved unprecedented results.
